Chris Taylor, Unifor Auto Council Chair, is President of Unifor Local 200 and Chair of the Unifor Ford master Bargaining Committee.
Chris began his involvement with his union in 1997 when his Plant Chair at the Ford Windsor plant asked him to help with Bingos, igniting a passion for the union through conversations with other elected leaders and activists. A sheet metal journeyman, he ran for his first elected position as Skilled Trades Committee Person in 2002, and became the Windsor Site Skilled Trades Chair in 2007, representing 1,100 skilled trades in the plant. From 2007 to 2011, he served as Ford Skilled Trades Master Bargaining Chair, and was acclaimed as President of Local 200 in 2011 and again in 2014.
A strong believer that those less fortunate deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, Chris serves on the Board of Directors for the Unemployed Help Center and also the Labour Sponsored Community Housing Group. Chris has also served as a board member of the United Way, and in 2011 was elected Vice President of the Windsor and District Labour Council. He served as President of the Labour Council from 2014 to mid-2015.
Chris and his wife of 30 years, Janice, have two grown children and one grandchild. In his spare time, Chris enjoys playing golf, fishing with his family and woodworking.
