Lisa Martin is a 27-year employee of Bell Aliant and has been a trade union activist since 2003, when she became the first clerical shop steward in her region.
She currently serves on the Unifor Local 506 Executive Board as Regional Chair, and represents 500 members in her territory.
Lisa also currently serves as liaison to multiple committees, sits as Policy Co-Chair for Occupational Health and Safety, as well as being the longest-serving member of her local Women’s Committee.
Along with being active in Unifor, Lisa also participates in her local labour council, New Brunswick Federation of Labour campaigns, lobbying actions and mentors other activists in her local.
Prior to the founding of Unifor, Lisa was elected by her peers to serve as a rank-and-file member at the CEP National Executive Board for five years. In this role, she was honoured to ensure member concerns were heard, and worked to further the rights of workers and strengthen communities. Lisa has served as chair of the Unifor Atlantic Women’s Committee, is a trained Discussion Leader and a new Women’s Advocate.
