Stand up for Canadian Pulp and Paper Workers

The U.S. Department of Commerce has announced a new 22 per cent anti-dumping duty on products produced by Kruger Inc. in Newfoundland and Québec and Catalyst Paper in British Columbia. If these duties remain, five Canadian mills could close by the end of 2018.

These Trump-imposed tariffs have one goal in mind: harm Canadian producers so American firms can gain an unfair advantage.

The communities of Cornerbrook NL, Trois Rivières QC, Port Alberni BC, Powell River BC, and Crofton BC all stand to lose hundreds of good, union jobs and the benefits of the resource industry that forms the bedrock of regional economies.

Unifor is calling on the federal government to take immediate action to stop these unfair duties and support the communities affected by Donald Trump's bully tactics.
