Friday: Unifor to call for a new vision for passenger rail in Canada

Unifor is calling for an overhaul of Canada’s passenger rail system, and the introduction of a high speed rail service, as part of a new passenger rail policy paper being introduced on November 29, at a press conference downtown Toronto. 

After years of government funding cuts at Via Rail, leading to service and employment reductions and a corresponding decline in ridership, Unifor is proposing a new vision for passenger rail in Canada, in advance of the 2014/2015 federal budget.
