Unifor Local 649 members at SaskPower have ratified a two-year deal that secures wage increases and pension contributions. Language covering contracting out and bereavement leave has also been strengthened.
“I’m proud of what the bargaining committee was able to achieve in this round,” said Christy Best, President of Local 649.
The bargaining committee was also able to achieve increases to shift premiums, including those in a temporary training role. The agreement also includes new leave provisions in the event of a serious illness of an immediate family member.
“Despite this government’s anti-union campaigns, the bargaining committee worked hard and achieved a deal that makes important gains,” said Joie Warnock, Unifor’s Western Director.
The collective agreement is retroactive to January 1, 2015.
