Confronting Global Capital: Strengthening Labour internationalism and transnationalism in Canada today

October 10, 2017 - 12:00 AM to October 12, 2017 - 12:00 AM

Free trade agreements, the restructuring of global production chains and intensifying neoliberal austerity policies globally have all contributed to heightened competition between workers internationally. In this context, the need to think about strategies to confront these processes and strengthen ties between workers internationally is critical.

To this end, a group of trade union activists and labour academics have come together to organize a space to think through and evaluate strategies, debate challenges and organize proposals for how we strengthen labour internationalism in Canada Today. "Confronting Global Capital: Strengthening Labour Internationalism and Transnationalism in Canada Today" will take place at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario from October 12-14, 2017.
