The Council of Health Care Unions reached a tentative agreement with the IWK and the Nova Scotia Health Authority following 15 days of bargaining over the span of many months.

The deal was reached at 4:30 a.m. Friday, August 30 following a marathon round of bargaining.

The Council bargaining committee is made up of ten health care members from across the province representing Unifor, CUPE and NSGEU. The Committee is recommending that the 9,000-person bargaining unit vote to accept the tentative agreement.

The Unions have prepared a comprehensive ratification package and provided those details to members earlier this week. Unifor hosted two town hall meetings on Wednesday, September 4 to explain the tentative agreement and answer any member questions. The electronic ratification vote is now open and will close on September 12, 2024. Members of the bargaining unit received a link to vote, along with a unique PIN.
