In a move that strengthens the Canadian media industry, 66 workers at Bell Media Inc., in Agincourt, Ont. have voted to join Unifor.

“Congratulations to our new members who have chosen Unifor to be in their corners they negotiate with their employer,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne.

“We will always fight to save local news and adding more members in newsrooms is a step in that direction.”

These new members work at CTV Network as traffic coordinators who schedule, manage inventory and place TV commercials on various English conventional, specialty, and TSN channels.

“Unifor values the important work these members do as part of the team connecting communities with quality, fact-based journalism and homegrown content every day,” said Unifor Organizing Director Justin Gniposky.

“This group joined Unifor to improve their wages, scheduling, workload and job security and we look forward to addressing these issues in bargaining.”

Unifor began the organizing campaign for this unit in early April.
