Join in celebrating Unifor’s 10-year anniversary Canadian Council in Halifax, N.S. this August.

The official call letter has gone out and registration is open for locals to register members online to attend before the deadline of July 19.

There is no registration fee for the Canadian Council, but advance sign-up is required via the online registration system. Delegates’ usernames and passwords will be sent directly to the local union president in a separate email.

This is the first Canadian Council since the Constitutional Convention last summer and delegates will discuss important issues and resolutions and reflect on all that we have accomplished since Unifor’s formation in 2013.

The traditional tenth anniversary gift is tin, a fitting symbol of Unifor’s resilience and strength over the past decade and of the union’s flexibility and durability for the future.

Canadian Council will be held Aug. 18 to 20, 2023, at the Halifax Convention Centre, 1650 Argyle St., Halifax, N.S. The council begins Fri., Aug. 18 at 9 a.m. and will adjourn by noon on Sun., Aug. 20.

Industry Council meetings scheduled alongside Canadian Council will be held on Tues., Aug. 15 and Wed., Aug. 16. Additional details will be provided by your council directly.

Collective Bargaining Program Summit

In addition, we invite you to attend the Bargaining Worker Power – Unifor’s Collective Bargaining Program Summit happening on Thurs., Aug. 17, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This day-long conference follows dozens of sessions and one of the union’s largest engagement of members across the country as we build our bargaining program for the future.

Locals can register delegates to the Bargaining Program Summit at the same time as registering for the Canadian Council. Please choose Bargaining Summit from the drop down menu. The deadline to register is July 19.

10th Anniversary Recognition

In recognition of our 10th anniversary, we’re also asking locals to submit a photo that represents their local union’s history by May 26.

This can be a photograph of a significant event or dispute your local was a part of, current or former elected representatives and/or members, an image of your local union building or a piece of art that is currently on display at your hall.

We encourage local unions to be creative and to consider submissions that provide representation to equity-seeking groups within your membership.

Photographs submitted will be part of a visual installation acknowledging the history of Unifor and the long history of our many local unions.

Photographs must be sent in digital format, in the highest resolution possible form Submissions can be sent using this online form.
