Durham Region transit workers represented by Unifor Local 222 have ratified a new four-year collective agreement with PWTransit.

“First contracts are not easy work, so I salute the bargaining committee and the members of Local 222,” said Jerry Dias, Unifor National President. “They do important work in the Durham Region and deserved a fair contract.”

The new agreement includes an 8 per cent wage increase over the term, a 42.5-hour threshold for overtime, and enhanced benefits. Local 222 was also able to secure a Women’s Advocate position, paid domestic violence leave, and anti-harassment training.
