A new contract has been ratified at the Hyatt Regency, bringing significant improvements to the working conditions of Unifor Local 112 members at the hotel.

"Our members were committed to achieving better wages, benefits, and job security, and their collective bargaining efforts paid off," said Lana Payne, Unifor National President. "New gratuity increases and a commitment to investigate improved pension options show what hotel workers can do when they work together to bargain fairness."

Key contract highlights include a historic wage increase, a commitment to investigate moving to the CAAT Defined Benefit (DB) Plus pension plan, enhanced health and welfare contributions, significant gratuity increases across the board, renewed job security protections, increases in premiums and allowances, and language improvements. The new contract also aligns with the pattern agreement set by other GTA hotels, ensuring consistency and fairness across the industry.

“These contract improvements are a testament to our members' resilience and commitment to achieving a fair deal," said John Turner, Unifor Local 112 President. "We are proud of the bargaining committee’s work and the gains we've made in this round of bargaining.”

The new agreement, effective February 1, 2024, runs until January 31, 2027, aligning the expiry date with other Unifor GTA hotels.

Unifor Local 112 represents more than 140 workers in Housekeeping, Guest Services, Kitchen, Engineering, Banquets and Food and Beverage Outlets at the Hyatt Regency Toronto.
