MOOSE JAW, SK, Sept. 9, 2016 /CNW/ - A diverse coalition of concerned Moose Jaw residents will hold a rally and barbecue on Sunday to protest the provincial funding cuts and forced lay-offs at the Wakamow Valley Authority (WVA).
"Wakamow is not expendable—it is a vital part of our city. These cuts must be reversed to ensure the park can be enjoyed by generations to come," said Joie Warnock, Unifor's Western Director.

WHO: Unifor Local 3, Friends of Wakamow Action Committee, and other concerned residents
The provincial budget delivered cuts to urban parks across Saskatchewan including Weyburn, Prince Albert, Swift Current, and North Battleford. Resulting from the cuts is a forced lay-off to WVA park maintenance staff.
Unifor is Canada's largest union in the private sector, representing more than 310,000 workers. It was formed Labour Day weekend 2013 when the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers unions merged.
