Unifor to file for conciliation as talks with CN Rail falter

Dear Members,

After meeting with CN Rail, the Unifor Local 100 and Council 4000 bargaining committees have filed for conciliation, seeking the assistance of a federally appointed conciliator.

The union remains optimistic that with the help of a conciliator, we can make progress on the critical issues that impact our members, including improvements to working conditions and job protections.

Adding to the challenges, within 24 hours of the start of negotiations, CN Rail informed the union of its intent to lay off at least 65 Unifor members. This attempt to intimidate your bargaining committees will not succeed.

We are committed to fighting for a fair contract that reflects the critical contributions you make every day.

We will continue to provide updates as we move forward with the conciliation process. For more information and updates, please visit unifor.org/cnbargaining2024.

As always, we ask members to refrain from engaging in rumours or unofficial updates from the employer. Your bargaining committees will provide accurate information as frequently as possible.

Your solidarity and support remain crucial as we move through this challenging phase of negotiations.

In solidarity,

Unifor Local 100 and Council 4000 Master Bargaining Committees
