Solidarity rally for striking CN Autoport workers

Despite heavy downpours, our solidarity rally supporting 239 striking CN Autoworkers in Halifax was a huge success. Unifor Local 100 are on strike for good jobs and fair pay.

“To all our members on strike: your local union supports you, your Atlantic regional leadership supports you, and your national union supports you,” says Unifor National Secretary-Treasurer, Len Poirier.

CN chose to bring scabs (replacement workers) in the first few hours of the strike, a shameful move that attempted to erode worker power and prolong the strike. The three longest disputes in Unifor’s history involved scabs.

“The Unifor Rail Council called an emergency meeting of all the Unifor rail locals from coast to coast to plan solidarity actions across the country wherever CN works,” says Atlantic Regional Director Jennifer Murray. We continue to call on CN to come back to the bargaining table with a fair offer to end this strike.”
