Workers at electrical manufacturer Trench Ltd. in Scarborough, Ont. have made a clear decision to strike if a deal isn’t made by midnight next Saturday.

“The members have expressed their strong support for the bargaining committee by giving them a 99% strike mandate,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne.

“Strike action is something our union doesn’t take lightly, but we will fight for the needs of our members.”

Unifor Local 303 represents 180 members who work as welders, crane operators, material handlers, crimpers, painters, winders, test lab and various other assembler classifications.

“We continue to negotiate and are ready for whatever outcome,” said Local 303 President Brian Vance.

Members will be in a legal strike position as of Sept. 14 at 12:01 a.m.
