WINNIPEG—The public sector wage pattern and several benefits enhancements are highlights of the collective agreement ratified by members of Unifor Local 681.
“Unifor members at Manitoba Hydro Utility Services have worked hard to win a fair contract with the employer,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “Congratulations to the bargaining committee and the membership for staying strong and bargaining tough.”
After Local 681 members delivered a 92% strike mandate following bargaining impasse last month, the bargaining committee secured a tentative agreement on June 28, 2024. Ratified on July 6, the four-year collective agreement includes wage increases of up to 13.75% during the term and up to $1,600 in lump sum bonuses.
The contract also includes increases to the massage, chiropractic, and physiotherapy benefits; an expansion of the prescription drug plan; and increased rates for mileage reimbursement.
“Manitoba Hydro is a strong public utility thanks to the outstanding work of Unifor members. We look forward to working with the new government to continue to strengthen Hydro and other public services to benefit working Manitobans,” said Unifor Western Regional Director Gavin McGarrigle.
Local 681 represents 120 workers at Manitoba Hydro subsidiary Utility Services providing meter reading, inspections, and locating services to residents and businesses.
