This course builds health and safety activist knowledge and skills in the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of hazards in the workplace. We will explore how hazards can affect workers, and the potential acute and chronic health effects of poor workplace environmental conditions and hazardous workplace substances. This course will deepen understanding of the concepts, terminology, tools, and methodologies of Industrial Hygiene. A focus of this course is an assessment of the legislative and regulatory framework governing Industrial Hygiene in our workplaces, and to build skills to critically assess the underlying assumptions and investigative methods associated with the practice of Industrial Hygiene.

Prerequisite: Prior completion of the 5-Day Health & Safety course is strongly recommended. You must be an active health and safety rep in your workplace to register for this course.
