On November 19 – World Toilet Day – Unifor stands in solidarity with the global movement of ensuring that employers and governments provide everyone with access to safe and inclusive washroom facilities, particularly women and 2SLGBTQI+ members. 

Safe sanitation at work is a fundamental human right. Workers and workplaces are diverse, so every employer must take steps to ensure sanitation facilities are clean, appropriate and safe to meet the individual needs of workers.

Every single worker faces a degree of risk or danger in performing their job. Unifor leadership and staff and guest speakers from a variety of areas of expertise shared experiences in responding to and preventing these risks with nearly 150 Unifor members at the weekend’s Health, Safety and Environment Conference, titled Back to Basics and Beyond.

Unifor Local 302 members at Wellkin Child and Youth Mental Wellness have successfully concluded contract negotiations, resulting in several improvements for members.

OTTAWA – Unifor welcomes the passing of the third reading of the federal pharmacare bill, bringing Canada one step closer to making universal pharmacare a reality.

Unifor members gathered at the Family Education Centre in Port Elgin, Ont., for the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) Conference centered around helping members recognize signs of mental health and addiction struggles in themselves and others, and equip them with resources and strategies to connect people with the support that they need.

Unifor members and staff joined the annual Steps for Life event in Toronto’s Coronation Park on Sunday, April 28, the Day of Mourning. The walk is hosted by Threads of Life, an organization that supports those impacted by workplace illness, injury and death and fights to end workplace tragedies.

Despite Bell Canada's commitment to mental health, the shift from Industrial Alliance to the Manulife Omni-flex plan at BTS has resulted in reduced mental health services for our members.
