Bombardier workers save pension for new hires

THUNDER BAY, ON, Sept. 12, 2014 /CNW/ - Unifor members in Thunder Bay, on strike at Bombardier for more than eight weeks, will soon be returning to work having maintained good jobs with good pensions for their community.

"This has been a difficult summer for these workers, but they can return to work knowing that they have stood up for future generations," Unifor National President Jerry Dias said.

Unifor settles Bombardier strike

THUNDER BAY, ON, Sept. 11, 2014 /CNW/ - After more than eight weeks on strike, Unifor Local 1075 has reached an agreement that will be presented for ratification Friday, Sept 12 at 8:30 am.

Unifor raises school bus concerns in new report

TORONTO, Sept. 2, 2014 /CNW/ - As another school year begins, Unifor has today written to the Premier of Ontario and the Minister of Education, alerting them to serious problems with how school bus contracts are awarded across the province, and is releasing a new report on the issue.

Steering Clear

Unifor released its report, Steering Clear: Avoiding the RFP Trap, looking at the Request for Proposals process and its impact on working conditions, abandoned bus routes and transperency in school boards. A copy of the report was sent to Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Education Minister Liz Sandals, urging them to take immediate action.

Bombardier workers stand up for good jobs

THUNDER BAY, ON, Aug. 26, 2014 /CNW/ - Bombardier workers in Thunder Bay have stood up for good jobs in Ontario and a secure future for their community by soundly rejecting a last offer from the company in a vote supervised by the Ministry of Labour today.
