The Original Cakerie bargaining updates

To all Local 27 members at the Original Cakerie,

This update is to remind you of the upcoming ratification vote meeting taking place on Wednesday, May 29 between 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m., 10:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

During these times, you are invited to come and hear a brief presentation on the tentative deal and ask questions. Then, you’ll conduct your secret ballot vote either for or against the tentative deal.

If the deal does not ratify (more than 50% of voting members vote “no” on the tentative agreement), strike action will begin after votes have been counted after the last meeting.

In the event of a strike, a picket schedule along with other important strike information, along with strike pay eligibility, will be sent to you.

There have been numerous questions about the history of wage changes at The Original Cakerie. This information is summarized in the bar graph below. Before unionization, average annual wage increases averaged 1.88%. The new tentative contract contains an average annual wage increase of 4% per year, with 6% front-loaded into year one of the contract.

We thank each of you for your important contributions to the bargaining process as we continue to work together to make our workplace a fairer, safer, and better place to work.

Please let us know if you have any questions concerning the tentative agreement.

In solidarity,
Your Bargaining Committee
