Unifor Atlantic BIWOC BBQ brings community together in celebration and solidarity

Unifor members and their families gathered under sunny skies at Halifax’s historic Seaview Africville Park for the Atlantic Region Black, Indigenous Workers of Colour (BIWOC) Committee Family BBQ—a vibrant afternoon filled with food, fun and community spirit.

Laughter echoed across the park as children bounced in the castle, had their faces painted, and joined in on games and activities. Adults mingled over plates of delicious barbecue, reconnecting and forging new bonds in a space that radiated belonging and celebration.

Unifor rallies for striking Transdev workers

Striking Transdev workers rallied outside BC Transit’s headquarters in Victoria on April 15 to send a strong message to the employer: access to washrooms (and reasonable break times to use them) is a fundamental human right.

Unifor members from Locals 114 and 333-BC went on strike on February 8 after Transdev refused to address providing dedicated washroom access to its bus drivers. Transit members, their locals, Unifor leadership and supporters attended the rally.

Unifor joins Solidarity Pact in Alberta

EDMONTON—Unifor joined more than 20 Alberta unions today to announce the Solidarity Pact to unite over 250,000 workers in a bold stand for workers’ rights and public services.

“Unifor is proud to help lead this united front in Alberta,” said Unifor Western Regional Director Gavin McGarrigle. “When governments attack workers, it’s our job to fight back—together. This pact is a promise to every worker that unions stand ready to defend their rights.”

Unifor members win historic $15 million award in Wescast dispute

WINGHAM, ON—Unifor won a historic arbitration award totalling approximately $15 million for nearly 200 union members who worked at Wescast Industries Inc., ending a nearly two-year severance and termination pay dispute between the company and the union.
